Our chiropractic clinic in Anchorage utilizes the healing powers of massage therapy in combination with state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and chiropractic medicine to relieve your pain, heal your body, and get your back to living a normal life. Our massage therapists are licensed and trained in many modalities, including:
Deep Tissue Massage
A technique that releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the grains of muscles, tendons, and fascia.
Myofascial Release
This type of massage therapy uses long, stretching strokes to release muscular tension.
Therapeutic Massage
A system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. The four strokes of Swedish massage are effleurage, petrissage, friction, and tapotement.
Trigger Point Therapy
Also known as Myotherapy or Neuromuscular Therapy. A method that applies concentrated finger pressure points to break cycles of spasm and pain.
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD)
This technique is also called manual lymphatic therapy. It uses light touch to move excess lymph and fluid out of the tissues and back into the lymphatic vessels. MLD promotes healing after surgery or injury where tissues may be swollen or sore, it reduces inflammation, helps during and after pregnancy for fluid retention, and reduces swelling and scar tissue.
The Graston Technique
This technique is a form of manual therapy known as soft-tissue instrument-assisted mobilization. This is a manual therapy approach that uses instruments with a specialized form of massage to scrape the skin gently. The Graston technique promotes faster recovery time after an injury and generally requires less treatment time.
